Biography

Péricles Aparecido Fonseca de Faria, known artistically as Péricles, was born in Santo André, São Paulo, in 1969. Before establishing himself in music, he worked as a student monitor and at an automotive assembly plant, beginning his artistic career in the late 1980s by joining the renowned pagode group Exaltasamba. With the group, he established himself as one of the leading names in national samba, recording over twenty albums and touring Brazil in highly successful tours alongside partners such as Thiaguinho.

After more than two decades leading Exaltasamba, Péricles began his solo career in 2012 with the release of the album and DVD Sensações, which featured prominent guest appearances and yielded hits with wide popular repercussion. In the following years, he expanded his discography with praised works such as Nos Arcos da Lapa, Feito pra Durar, and Deserto da Ilusão, in addition to receiving a Latin Grammy nomination for the album Em Sua Direção. Throughout his career, the singer has collaborated with various Brazilian music icons, such as Djavan, Chico Buarque, and Zeca Pagodinho.

Recognized for his striking voice and interpretive versatility, Péricles has also stood out in special projects, telenovela soundtracks, and memorable performances, including television specials and major festivals across the country. In addition to his work as a singer and instrumentalist, he took over the management of his own career through his production company, remaining one of the most influential and beloved figures in contemporary samba and pagode.
