Biography
Pique Novo is a renowned pagode group formed in the late 1980s, more precisely in 1989, in the neighborhood of Ricardo de Albuquerque, in the city of Rio de Janeiro. Born in Grandma Doca's backyard, on Jaboticabal Street, the ensemble has built a solid trajectory in the Brazilian samba and romantic pagode scene over decades on the road.
Throughout its lineup and history, the band has featured several talented members who shaped its characteristic sound, including names like Walmir, Lelê, Liomar, and Binho Percussão. The group achieved major national projection in the early 2000s, standing out with the acclaimed album Ao Vivo - 10 Anos, released in 2002 and awarded a Gold Record by ABPD in 2003.
With an extensive discography spanning decades, Pique Novo has consolidated classics and influenced new generations of pagode, sharing fans' affection with other great exponents of the genre such as Belo and Exaltasamba. Their dedication to music has earned the group expressive milestones, such as the recording of the commemorative album Pique Novo 25 Anos and the project Histórias Pra Cantar.
