Biography

Pixote is a prominent Brazilian samba and pagode group established in São Paulo in 1993. The band's roots trace back to the Cidade Tiradentes neighborhood located in the eastern zone of São Paulo, where lead vocalist Dodô spent his formative years. Originally founded under the moniker Revelação do Pagode, the ensemble soon adopted their current name and went on to become a staple of the Brazilian pagode scene.

The group's current lineup features Douglas Fernando Monteiro, known as Dodô, on vocals, alongside Thiago Carvalho Santana, called Thiaguinho, on keyboards, and Agnaldo Nascimento Apolinário, known as Tiola Chocolate, on the tantã. Throughout their extensive career, the band has also included former members such as Wallace on cavaquinho, Erico Lins Rodrigues on repique de mão, Clayson Rangel Batista on acoustic guitar, and Eduardo Pereira Pacheco on pandeiro.

As one of the enduring acts in modern samba, Pixote shares stylistic similarities with other renowned Brazilian groups such as Exaltasamba and Belo. Their contributions to the pagode genre have cemented their place in popular Brazilian music alongside contemporaries like Soweto.
