Biography

Ponto de Equilíbrio is an important Brazilian reggae band originating from the neighborhood of Vila Isabel, in the city of Rio de Janeiro, in the year 1999. Initially formed by eight musicians, the group established itself as one of the main exponents of the genre in the country, standing out for original lyrics inspired by Rasta philosophy that address themes such as justice, love, and equality.

Throughout its trajectory, the group incorporated influences from dub, samba, and traditional Brazilian rhythms, such as maracatu, maculelê, and capoeira de Angola. The first studio album, titled Reggae a Vida com Amor, was released independently in 2004 and achieved significant sales figures, driven by successful tracks that won over fans in states like São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro.

The ensemble expanded its discography with striking albums such as Abre a Janela and Dia após dia Lutando, in addition to recording important live works, such as the DVD Juntos Somos Fortes Ao Vivo, recorded at Circo Voador with appearances by renowned artists from the national scene such as Marcelo D2 and Lauro Farias. The current lineup features Hélio Bentes on vocals, Márcio Sampaio on guitar, Pedro Caetano on bass, Lucas Kastrup on drums, Marcelo Campos on percussion, and Tiago Caetano on keyboard.
