Biography

Almiro José Alves, widely known by his artistic name Praiano, is a prominent Brazilian singer and songwriter born in Urandi, Bahia, on May 5, 1951. He has established himself as a major figure in traditional Brazilian sertaneja music, contributing numerous compositions to various albums throughout his career. His deep connection to the roots of rural Brazilian music allowed him to collaborate with several legendary figures in the genre, most notably serving as the final duo partner to the iconic Tião Carreiro.

In 1992, Praiano formed a successful musical partnership with Tião Carreiro, releasing the hit album "O Fogo e a Brasa," which impressively sold over 500,000 copies upon its release. Following this monumental success, he went on to perform alongside Peão Carreiro in 1994, releasing two well-received CDs, and later joined forces with Ronaldo Viola to record the acclaimed track "Desatino," which was subsequently covered by renowned sertaneja singer Daniel. Alongside these historic collaborations, Praiano has maintained a long-standing musical partnership with virtuoso viola player Rodrigo Mattos for over a decade.
