Biography

Primeira Essência is a Brazilian Christian pop rock band established in Rio de Janeiro in 1997. The group was founded by drummer Wagner Carvalho and bassist Rogério dy Castro, both former members of the renowned band Rebanhão, alongside vocalist Davi Fernandes. During their initial active period spanning until 2000, they released two albums and established a notable presence within the Brazilian Christian music scene.

Their debut album, Palavra de Deus, was released in 1998 and earned them significant recognition, including a Troféu Talento award for Best Music Video and the title of best song at Canta Rio 99 for the track "Essência". Following their sophomore album, Por Você, released through MK Music, the members pursued different professional paths, with Fernandes embarking on a solo career and others focusing on music production.

After a hiatus, the band returned with lineup changes, bringing in vocalists such as Fábio Guimarães and later Homerson Barreto. The group celebrated their return with live-in-studio recordings of tracks from their debut album, alongside plans for new material and collaborations with prominent artists. Through their melodic rock sound and spiritual lyrics, Primeira Essência remains an enduring name in Brazilian Christian rock.
