Biography

Psirico is a Brazilian pagode baiano musical group founded in the year 2000 in the city of Salvador, in Bahia. The creation of the band was initiated by Márcio Victor, a percussionist who had already worked with major names in Brazilian music such as Caetano Veloso, Marisa Monte, Gilberto Gil, Ivete Sangalo, and Daniela Mercury. The project's name originated from a slang term from the suburban neighborhood of Engenho Velho de Brotas in Salvador, suggested by Caetano Veloso, and the group's trademark became the use of a megaphone with a siren sound during live performances.

Throughout its trajectory in carnivals and micaretas, the band achieved strong regional and national projection with striking hits. National recognition came in 2007 with the song "Mulher Brasileira (Toda Boa)", boosted by renditions from Ivete Sangalo. Later, in 2014, the group firmly consecrated itself with the phenomenon "Lepo Lepo", a track that gained enormous repercussion and led radio plays and awards throughout the country. Success continued in subsequent years with expressive achievements at the Troféu Bahia Folia, including prominent partnerships with groups like Àttoxxá.

The ensemble consolidated itself as one of Brazil's main festive attractions, accumulating expressive awards such as the Troféu Dodô e Osmar and the Troféu Band Folia. Under the continuous leadership of Márcio Victor, the lineup underwent initial modifications in its vocal and percussion structure, but maintained the rhythmic and festive essence of Bahia's pagode. Psirico's trajectory remains deeply connected to the recent history of Salvador's carnival and the dissemination of Bahian culture to the rest of the country.
