Biography

Psychic Possessor was a Brazilian crossover thrash band formed in Santos, São Paulo, in 1986. Initially, the group was named Exhumer, and later Ritual, under which they released a demo tape. In 1987, the name was changed to Psychic Possessor, and the band remained active until 1991.

Psychic Possessor's sound evolved throughout their short career. On their debut album, "Toxin Diffusion" (1988), the band featured a death/thrash metal style with crossover influences. Their second album, "Nós Somos a América do Sul" (1989), marked a transition to a more hardcore punk-oriented style, compared to bands like Ratos de Porão. The band released two studio albums during their existence.

Despite their brief trajectory, Psychic Possessor left their mark on the Brazilian underground scene. Guitarist Flávio Rodriguez, one of the founders, played in other important bands such as Vulcano. The band's legacy is remembered for its energy and the fusion of styles that represented the metal and hardcore scene in Brazil in the 1980s.
