Biography

Quartchêto is a Brazilian instrumental group formed in Porto Alegre, Rio Grande do Sul, in 2001. The band stands out for its innovative sound, which blends traditional rhythms from southern Brazil, Uruguay, and Argentina – such as milonga, vanerão, chamamé, and chacarera – with influences from choro, samba, jazz, and classical music. This fusion of styles, combined with a peculiar instrumental lineup consisting of trombone, accordion, acoustic guitar, and percussion, gives Quartchêto a unique and plural artistic language.

With an original repertoire, the group has been recognized with several awards, including multiple trophies at the Açorianos Music Award, where it was named Album of the Year in 2005 and 2010. Quartchêto's journey is marked by a constant search for innovation and the appreciation of southern musical roots, while at the same time expanding its sonic boundaries.

Current and historical members of Quartchêto include Hilton Vaccari (acoustic guitar), Julio Rizzo (trombone), Luciano Maia (accordion, later replaced by Matheus Kleber), and Ricardo Arenhaldt (percussion). The band has performed countless shows throughout Brazil, celebrating its 20th and 25th career milestones with commemorative concerts and festival appearances, always delivering a performance that combines refined musicality, good humor, and audience interaction.
