Biography

The Carlos Gomes Quartet is a renowned Brazilian chamber music group, formed by four prominent musicians on the national scene: Cláudio Cruz (violin), Adonhiran Reis (violin), Gabriel Marin (viola), and Alceu Reis (cello). The quartet's main objective is the promotion of Brazilian, Latin American, and contemporary music, in addition to exploring the vast repertoire composed for the string formation.

The group is recognized for its research and historical recovery work, searching libraries and museus for rare works, many of them never recorded or performed previously. This dedication to the little-explored repertoire has surprised the musical scene and won glowing reviews.

With a discography that includes recordings of works by composers such as Alberto Nepomuceno, Carlos Gomes, Alexandre Levy, and Glauco Velásquez, the quartet was honored with the Bravo Award in 2018, in the category of best classical music CD. Their concert performances take place in various cities across the country, frequently with the collaboration of renowned artists.
