Quincy Jones was a renowned American music producer, composer, and arranger who maintained a deep and admirable relationship with Brazilian culture and music throughout his career. A great researcher and promoter of quality musical expressions, Jones became a great admirer of bossa nova and various exponents of our artistic scene.

Among his great favorites of Brazilian music were renowned names such as Simone, whom he frequently described as one of the greatest singers in the world, in addition to Milton Nascimento, Gilson Peranzzetta, Ivan Lins, and Djavan. With Djavan, for example, he built a solid friendship dating back to the time when the Brazilian singer lived in the United States and recorded the acclaimed album Luz.
