Biography

The Quinteto Onze e Meia was the house band for the popular Brazilian television show "Jô Soares Onze e Meia." The group's musical journey began as a quartet, evolving into a quintet and later a sextet, eventually becoming known as the Sexteto do Jô. They were instrumental in providing the musical backdrop for the show, accompanying guests and performing instrumental pieces that blended jazz, Brazilian popular music (MPB), and blues.

In 1992, the Quinteto Onze e Meia released their self-titled debut album, "Quinteto Onze e Meia." This album featured a repertoire of instrumental music that showcased their versatility, including jazz standards, Brazilian classics, and blues. The group's members included Rubinho on guitar, Bira on electric bass, Osmar Barutti on piano, Derico Sciotti on saxophone and flute, and Miltinho on percussion and drums. Their performances were characterized by a sophisticated blend of musical styles, earning them recognition within the Brazilian music scene.

Beyond their television work, the Quinteto Onze e Meia also embarked on national tours to promote their album. The band's association with Jô Soares was significant, with members like Derico Sciotti recalling a father-son relationship with the host. The group's legacy is tied to the success of Jô Soares' programs, serving as a testament to their musical talent and their integral role in Brazilian television and music history.
