Biography

The Quitandinha Serenaders were a prominent Brazilian vocal group active in the 1940s and early 1950s. The ensemble was formed by Alberto Ruschell, Francisco Pacheco, Luiz Bonfá, and Luiz Telles. Their name was inspired by their performances at the Quitandinha Hotel in Petrópolis, a popular resort destination.

The group gained national recognition in 1947 when they recorded "Felicidade," a song by Lupicínio Rodrigues, which significantly boosted the composer's career. The Quitandinha Serenaders released two albums with Continental Records and eight with Odeon Records before disbanding in 1953.

Their discography includes notable tracks such as "José do rancho," "Tormento," "Sansão e Dalila," and "Felicidade." The group's work contributed to the rich tapestry of Brazilian popular music during its active years, leaving a legacy of vocal harmony and memorable melodies.
