Biography
Rael, born Israel Feliciano in São Paulo, is a prominent Brazilian singer, songwriter, and rapper who began his musical journey at the age of sixteen. He initially formed the rap group Can KND before becoming a founding member of the influential hip-hop collective Pentágono, with which he spent over a decade recording and releasing several self-authored albums. After establishing himself within the underground scene, he transitioned to a dedicated solo career, eventually dropping his former moniker 'Da Rima' to perform simply as Rael.
Throughout his career, Rael has collaborated extensively with many iconic figures in Brazilian music, including Emicida, Criolo, and Chico César. His breakout solo efforts include the acclaimed albums MP3 - Música Popular do 3° Mundo and Ainda Bem que Eu Segui as Batidas do Meu Coração, the latter of which was produced by the American production duo Beatnick and K-Salaam. His artistic reach further expanded with landmark releases like Coisas do Meu Imaginário and the APCA-acclaimed project Cabim-Cidreira, cementing his legacy in contemporary Brazilian rap.
Rael's contributions to the genre have earned him widespread critical acclaim, including a Latin Grammy nomination for his collaboration with Emicida on the track 'A Chapa É Quente!'. He remains a vital force in bridging traditional Brazilian sounds with modern hip-hop aesthetics. His enduring influence continues to inspire new generations of urban artists across Brazil.
