Biography

Raimundos is one of the most emblematic bands of 1990s Brazilian rock, formed in Brasília in 1987. Initially conceived by neighbors Digão and Rodolfo Abrantes as a project influenced by Ramones, Dead Kennedys, and Suicidal Tendencies, the group soon incorporated elements of northeastern culture, drawing inspiration from the forró singer Zenilton. After a brief separation in the early 1990s, the band returned with full force and released their self-titled debut album in 1994, inaugurating the style known as "forró-core" and opening doors for a whole generation of rock bands in the country, influencing names like Autoramas and Titãs.

Over the decades, the group underwent several transformations in its lineup and sound, standing out with major commercially successful albums like Lavô Tá Novo and Só no Forevis, the latter driven by unmistakable hits like "Mulher de Fases" and "A mais Pedida". The departure of vocalist Rodolfo Abrantes in 2001 marked a new phase in the band's trajectory, with Digão taking over main vocals and the entry of new members, such as guitarist Marquim, drummer Caio Cunha, and later bassist Jean Moura following the passing of the beloved Canisso in 2023. Even in the face of losses and changes, Raimundos remained steadfast on the road, celebrating decades of career with commemorative projects and new releases, consolidating their eternal legacy in the history of national music.
