Biography

Raiz do Sana is a Brazilian musical group formed in 1998 in Vale do Sana, a district of Macaé, in Rio de Janeiro. The band stands out for its unique fusion of northeastern rhythms, such as forró pé-de-serra, baião, xote and xaxado, with elements of other genres like rock, salsa, samba, soul and maracatu. This mixture results in a distinct and unmistakable sound, featuring energetic performances and a danceable repertoire.

Since the beginning of its journey, Raiz do Sana has been recognized for its authenticity and musical quality. In its early years, the group received the SESI Culture award in the music category. In 2000, they released their first entirely original and independent CD, which achieved great resonance and won over an expressive number of fans. The album's success led to a rerelease by the Albatroz record label and airplay on major radio stations such as Mania FM in Rio de Janeiro and Rádio Imprensa in São Paulo.

Throughout a career spanning over two decades, Raiz do Sana has performed hundreds of shows all over Brazil and even on international tours. The band has released several albums, including "Cabeça D'água", "3", "Raiz do Sana" and "Fio da Navalha", the latter funded through crowdfunding and featuring special guest appearances by artists like Geraldo Azevedo and Carlos Malta. With a loyal fan base and a prominent presence in the Brazilian music scene, Raiz do Sana continues to celebrate the country's rich popular culture with its vibrant and contagious music.
