Biography

The band Raízes do Pelô emerged in Salvador, Bahia, and stood out in the Brazilian music scene, especially in the axé and samba reggae genres. Founded by Mestre Jackson, the band is considered a pioneer for having created a percussion group outside the context of traditional afro blocks, paving the way for other Bahian musicians to form their own percussive bands. This initiative was innovative and influenced the emergence of several groups around the world.

The group released their self-titled album in 1988, with tracks that explore afro-brazilian rhythms and reggae influences, such as "Nubia, Axum E Etiopia" and "Banda Dos Negros". The band's discography also includes CD and cassette editions released in 1992.
