Biography

Raquel Virgínia is a prominent Brazilian singer, songwriter, and entrepreneur, recognized for her significant contributions to contemporary Brazilian pop music. She first gained national attention as a founding member of the trio As Bahias e a Cozinha Mineira, later known as As Baías, alongside Assucena Assucena and Rafael Acerbi. With the group, she released several acclaimed albums, including "Tarântula" (2019) and "Enquanto Estamos Distantes" (2020), earning two consecutive Latin Grammy nominations for Best Contemporary Pop Album in Portuguese. The trio also received two awards at the 29th Prêmio da Música Brasileira in 2017 for "Canção Popular – Grupo" and "Canção Popular – Álbum".

In 2021, after the dissolution of As Baías, Virgínia embarked on a solo career, further exploring her artistic vision. Her debut solo album, "Não incendiei a casa por milagre," released in 2025, was produced by Moreno Veloso and features a blend of original compositions and covers of songs by Brazilian icons like Caetano Veloso and Rita Lee. Her music often delves into themes of personal identity, societal issues, and self-discovery, delivered with a vibrant pop sensibility. She has collaborated with various artists, including Tulipa Ruiz and O Poeta.

Beyond her musical endeavors, Raquel Virgínia is also a successful entrepreneur and a vocal advocate for diversity and inclusion. In 2021, she founded Nhaí, a startup focused on diversity and inclusion in the corporate world, providing consulting services to national and international companies. She also established Contaí in 2022, recognized as Brazil's first platform for accelerating LGBTQIAP+ entrepreneurs. Virgínia frequently speaks at conferences and events on innovation, diversity, and entertainment, leveraging her experiences to inspire and empower others.
