Biography
Michel Dias Costa, artistically known as Rashid, is a São Paulo rapper, producer, and entrepreneur who has become one of the central figures of contemporary Brazilian hip hop. Born in 1988, he began his prominent trajectory in the late 2000s, consolidating his career through mixtapes and EPs that gained traction in the independent scene, such as "Hora de Acordar" and "Dádiva e Dívida." Over the years, he has collaborated with fundamental names in national rap, including Emicida and Projota, with whom he participated in the "Nova Ordem" project.
His discography is marked by constant evolution, transitioning between classic boom bap and more melodic experimentation. The album "Crise," released in 2018, was widely acclaimed by critics, appearing on lists of the best albums of the year in publications such as Rolling Stone Brasil and receiving recognition from the São Paulo Association of Art Critics (APCA). In addition to his studio albums, Rashid is known for diverse partnerships with artists such as Criolo, Milton Nascimento, and Duda Beat, demonstrating his versatility and transit through different strands of Brazilian music.
Rashid also expanded his work into literature with the release of the book "Ideias que rimam mais que palavras - Vol. 1 - Foco na Missão" in 2018. In the work, he explores the stories behind his compositions and shares reflections on the first phase of his career. With a prolific output, the artist remains active in the music scene, releasing conceptual projects such as "Movimento Rápido dos Olhos" (2022) and "Portal" (2024), maintaining his position as a relevant urban chronicler and one of the leading names of his generation in rap.
