Biography

O Regional Carioca is a Brazilian musical group formed in 2002 with the mission of continuing the legacy of choro ensembles such as Época de Ouro and Regional do Canhoto. The group consists of talented musicians who honor the tradition of choro, one of the most representative genres of Brazilian popular music. The current lineup features Tiago Souza on mandolin, Ana Rabello on cavaquinho, Julião Pinheiro and Rafael Mallmith on guitars, Glauber Seixas on guitar, and Marcus Tadeu dos Santos on tambourine.

Since its founding, Regional Carioca has performed on important stages and festivals, both in Brazil and abroad. The group has participated in events such as the Londrina Music Festival, the Choro Festival in Rio de Janeiro, and shows paying tribute to great names in Brazilian music, such as Elizeth Cardoso. Their music is marked by technical excellence and a passion for choro, attracting both aficionados of the genre and new listeners.

The repertoire of Regional Carioca ranges from classic choro compositions to unreleased works by its members and other contemporary composers.
