Biography

Renata Souto Maior Arruda was born in João Pessoa, on December 23, 1967. She began her artistic journey singing in the University Choir of Paraíba and later moved to Brasília, where she emerged professionally in the music scene after performances alongside great names such as Altamiro Carrilho and Elizeth Cardoso. In the federal capital, she rubbed shoulders with Cássia Eller, with whom she shared the spotlight of the local music scene before moving to Rio de Janeiro in the 1990s.

In Rio de Janeiro, the artist consolidated her career by releasing her debut album, "Traficante de ilusões", which featured major productions and guest appearances, in addition to the mentorship of Ney Matogrosso. Over the years, she expanded her work into songwriting, penning songs recorded by artists such as Xuxa and Sandra de Sá, and released several albums and DVDs that traverse MPB, samba, and northeastern roots.

In addition to her strong presence on stage and in the studio, Renata Arruda also ventured into literature and theater, debuting with the poetry book "Nua" and participating in theatrical productions such as the Passion of Christ. With a career marked by awards and partnerships with icons of Brazilian music such as Simone and Elba Ramalho, she continues to celebrate her cultural identity and artistic versatility.
