Biography
Renatinho Partideiro, born Renato Cardoso Neves, was a prominent Brazilian singer, composer, and "partideiro" (a master of "partido alto," a style of samba characterized by improvisation and call-and-response).
He grew up in the communities of Morro do Urubu in Pilares, Rio de Janeiro, and was deeply connected to the samba school Caprichosos de Pilares, founded by his family members. His early exposure to samba and his father's talent for versification fostered his own improvisational skills. Renatinho became an internationally recognized figure in the "partido alto" scene.
Renatinho Partideiro played a significant role in revitalizing the Cacique de Ramos, a legendary samba club in Rio de Janeiro, where he served as director and led weekly Sunday samba gatherings. His talent for improvisational samba was showcased in the documentary "Partideiros" (2012) and his compositions were recorded by renowned artists such as Beth Carvalho and Fundo de Quintal. He passed away at the age of 50 due to chronic kidney failure.
