Biography
Renato Cosme Vieira de Barros was born in Rio de Janeiro and stood out as one of the great names in Brazilian music by founding the group Renato e Seus Blue Caps, where he acted as vocalist and guitarist. His skill on the instrument was widely recognized, leading him to be included in the list of the thirty greatest Brazilian electric and acoustic guitar icons compiled by Rolling Stone Brasil magazine in 2012, in the category dedicated to those who went far beyond rock.
As a songwriter, his work marked generations by creating highly successful songs, such as the classic "Devolva-me". The composition gained initial prominence in the voices of the duo Leno and Lílian and later achieved enormous repercussion when re-recorded by renowned artists of the national scene, such as Adriana Calcanhotto.
Renato Barros passed away in his hometown on July 28, 2020, a victim of a pulmonary infection, leaving an indelible legacy in the Jovem Guarda movement and in the history of the electric guitar in the country. His artistic trajectory remains intimately linked to references of national pop and rock music, dialoguing with the work of icons such as Roberto Carlos and Erasmo Carlos.
