Biography

Renato Braz is a highly acclaimed Brazilian singer, guitarist, and percussionist, renowned for his refined baritone voice and his deep commitment to the roots of Brazilian Popular Music (MPB). Born in São Paulo in 1968, Braz emerged as a significant figure in the 1990s, blending urban sophistication with the rustic textures of Brazilian regional music. His work is characterized by a poetic sensibility and a focus on high-quality acoustic arrangements.

Throughout his career, Braz has received significant critical acclaim, including a nomination for the Sharp Prize in 1996 and winning the prestigious 5th Visa Music Award (Vocal Edition) in 2002. He also earned the Rival Petrobras Award for Best Popular Singer. His discography is marked by prestigious collaborations with some of Brazil's most respected musicians, such as Dori Caymmi, Ivan Lins, and the vocal group Maogani.

Braz is particularly noted for his collaborative projects, such as the album "Papo de Passarim" recorded with Zé Renato, and "Silêncio," a collaboration with woodwind master Nailor Proveta and guitarist Edson Alves.
