Biography

Renato Cohen is a Brazilian DJ and music producer, born in São Paulo in 1974. His career in electronic music began in the mid-1990s, at a time when the genre was still in its infancy in Brazil. Cohen stood out for his energetic and positive mixing technique, helping to introduce the Brazilian clubber scene to the universe of electronic music.

International recognition came in 2002, with the release of his hit "Pontapé" on Carl Cox's Intec label. The track became a worldwide success, played in films and advertising campaigns, and opened doors for performances at major festivals and clubs around the globe, such as Wire (Japan), Dance Valley (Netherlands), I Love Techno (Belgium), Fabric (London), and Berghain (Berlin). His productions are notably influenced by techno, with touches of funk, breakbeat, and house, always marked by a contagious groove.

In addition to his career as a DJ and producer, Renato Cohen also explored other artistic projects, including remixes for the soundtrack of the film "City of God" and soundtracks for the fashion world. In 2009, he released his first album, "Sixteen Billion Drum Kicks," which consolidated his compositional authenticity by blending electronics with elements of rich Brazilian sound design, featuring collaborations with musicians like Marku Ribas and Bocato. Cohen is also one of the founders and artistic director of the Massa Records label, dedicated to releasing works by national artists with a focus on the dance floor.
