Biography

Renato Baptista dos Santos, widely known as Renato da Rocinha, is a Brazilian singer and songwriter born and raised in the famous Rocinha community in Rio de Janeiro. Since childhood, he attended various samba circles alongside his father, which deeply shaped his artistic trajectory and passion for the genre. Before consolidating his career in music, he worked as an audio operator at a local community radio station, where he hosted the show Papo de Samba and interviewed major names from the Rio scene, in addition to working as an announcer and official voice for the Acadêmicos da Rocinha samba school.

His discography includes remarkable albums that established his name in independent samba. In 2010, he released his first studio work, the CD Qualquer Lugar, recorded at the Acadêmicos da Rocinha clubhouse. Years later, in 2015, he presented the album Moleque Bom to the public, reaffirming his talent as an interpreter and songwriter.

In 2019, he celebrated a decade of dedication to music with the release of the commemorative live album Renato da Rocinha 10 Anos (Ao Vivo). The project brought together his greatest hits and featured special guest appearances by prominent names in samba, such as Xande de Pilares, Arlindinho, João Martins, and the group Galocantô.
