Biography

Renato Ladeira was a prominent Brazilian musician, singer, songwriter, and keyboardist, born on May 4, 1952, in Rio de Janeiro. He was the son of radio pioneer Cesar Ladeira and actress Renata Fronzi. Ladeira's musical journey began in the 1960s when he co-founded the band The Bubbles with his brother Cesar. This group later evolved into A Bolha, a significant act in the Brazilian rock scene, known for its psychedelic and progressive rock influences.

In the early 1980s, Ladeira founded Herva Doce, a pop-rock band that achieved national success with hits like "Erva Venenosa" and "Amante Profissional." Herva Doce played to massive crowds, including opening for Kiss at the Maracanã stadium in 1983. Ladeira also made a significant contribution to Brazilian music as a songwriter, most notably co-writing the classic "Faz Parte do Meu Show" with Cazuza, which became one of the latter's biggest hits.

Throughout his career, Renato Ladeira was involved in various musical projects, including the band Bixo da Seda and his later group, New Old Boys. He passed away on August 12, 2015, in Rio de Janeiro, leaving behind a legacy as a versatile and influential figure in Brazilian rock music.
