Biography

Reynaldo Rayol was a Brazilian musician and artistic producer who became a prominent figure in the Jovem Guarda movement. Born in São Paulo, he began his musical career in the late 1950s and quickly established himself within the emerging rock and twist scene, working alongside renowned artists like Roberto Carlos and Wilson Simonal. Throughout his career, he collaborated with various notable groups and performers, contributing significantly to the popular musical landscape of Brazil during that era.

In 1961, Rayol shared space on the LP Twist with singer Cleide Alves and the band Renato e Seus Blue Caps, interpreting memorable tracks featuring backing vocals from prestigious acts like Os Cariocas. He further cemented his presence in the music scene by participating in the landmark television broadcast of the Jovem Guarda program on TV Record in August 1965, sharing the stage with figures such as Erasmo Carlos, Wanderlea, and his brother Agnaldo Rayol.

In his later years, Rayol transitioned away from performing to focus on artistic production, helping shape the careers of others within the industry. His recorded legacy from the Jovem Guarda period was later compiled and released on CD by EMI-Odeon in 2000. He passed away in São Paulo in June 2021 due to complications from COVID-19.
