Biography

Ricardo Arenhaldt is a Brazilian drummer and percussionist, born in Porto Alegre, Rio Grande do Sul, in 1965. He began his musical journey at the age of 8, learning his first chords from his father, who was also a drummer. His musical training was consolidated at the Centro Universitário Metodista IPA. Arenhaldt is recognized for his versatility, moving masterfully between genres such as samba jazz, bossa nova, MPB, and regional music from Rio Grande do Sul.

Throughout his career, Ricardo Arenhaldt has collaborated with renowned Brazilian music artists, including Ivan Lins, Nanna Caymmi, Adriana Calcanhoto, and Nei Lisboa, in addition to having played with important names in the regional scene of Rio Grande do Sul. He is a founding member of the award-winning instrumental band Quartchêto, with which he has toured internationally and won several awards. His work as an educator is also notable, having taught classes at festivals and educational institutions for over 20 years.

Arenhaldt is a multifaceted artist, also working as a music producer and teacher. His dedication to Brazilian music is evident in his discography and his participation in projects that celebrate the country's rhythmic diversity. In 2023, he joined the Jambo Trio, a samba jazz project that unites piano, double bass, and drums, exploring original compositions and reinterpretations of classics of the genre.
