Biography

Ricardo Dias Gomes is a Brazilian musician, composer, bassist, keyboardist, singer, producer, and arranger, born in Rio de Janeiro on July 27, 1980. The grandson of renowned playwright Dias Gomes and son of trumpeter Guilherme Dias Gomes, Ricardo has had a strong connection to music since childhood, having started piano lessons at the age of 11. His academic background includes a bachelor's degree in music (musical arrangement) from UniRio, completed in 2005.

His musical career gained prominence in the late 90s with his participation in the Rio de Janeiro music scene. In 1999, he founded the band Brasov. In 2005, he joined Marcelo Callado, Gustavo Benjão, and Gabriel Bubu to form the band Do Amor. Starting in 2006, Ricardo Dias Gomes began a notable collaboration with Caetano Veloso, playing bass and keyboards in the band Cê, which accompanied the artist on albums such as "Cê" (2006), "Zii e Zie" (2009), and "Abraçaço" (2012), in addition to international tours.

In 2015, he released his debut solo album, "-11", which received praise from the English magazine "The Wire". This was followed by other solo works, such as the mini-album "Aa" (2018) and the album "Muito Sol" (2023), exploring sounds that blend Brazilian popular music with contemporary experimentations. Ricardo Dias Gomes has also collaborated with other artists such as Lucas Santtana, Nina Becker, Zumbi do Mato, and Jonas Sá, and has been living in Lisbon since 2017, continuing his prolific music career.
