Biography
Geraldo Antônio de Carvalho, known artistically as Rick or Rick Sollo, was a prominent Brazilian singer, songwriter, and music producer in modern sertaneja music. Born in Monte do Carmo, Tocantins, he began his artistic journey in childhood alongside his sister and later went through other formations until solidifying his career when he teamed up with singer Renner, forming the famous duo Rick & Renner in 1986. Over four decades on the road, the partnership sold millions of records and placed countless radio hits, becoming one of the genre's benchmarks in the country.
In addition to his striking work alongside Renner, Rick built a solid reputation as a songwriter and music producer, signing works recorded by major exponents such as Chitãozinho & Xororó, Gian & Giovani, and João Paulo & Daniel. The artist also ventured into solo careers and one-off partnerships, such as the project with singer Giovani and the release of independent albums that reinforced his artistic versatility. His contribution to sertaneja music consecrated him as one of the most important interpreters in the genre's history.
Rick's career was marked by triumphant returns with his former duo partner and constant renewal in his phonographic production. The musician remained active until his final years of life, leaving an indelible legacy in Brazilian popular culture. His death occurred in 2026, as a result of a plane crash in Santa Catarina, generating widespread mourning among fans and artists across the country.
