Biography

Geraldo Antônio de Carvalho, known artistically as Rick or Rick Sollo, was an important Brazilian singer, songwriter, and music producer born in Monte do Carmo, Tocantins. Alongside Renner Reis, he formed the famous duo Rick & Renner, standing out as one of the rare Black performers of major projection in modern sertanejo music and accumulating sales of over ten million records across a four-decade career.

In addition to his strong performance on stage with Renner, Rick built a solid reputation as a songwriter and producer, penning hits recorded by big names in sertanejo music such as Chitãozinho & Xororó, Daniel, and Gian & Giovani. Throughout his career, he also sought new artistic horizons by releasing solo work, such as the albums Pronto pra Te Amar and Foi Deus, in addition to joining a successful partnership with singer Giovani.

After back-and-forth reunions in the lineup of the classic duo, Rick resumed activities with Renner in 2018, remaining fully active in music until his passing in 2026. His body of work remains one of the fundamental pillars in the history of the sertanejo genre in Brazil, influencing several generations of artists and consolidating a vast popular repertoire.
