Biography
Danilo Albert Ambrosio, widely known by the stage name Rincon Sapiência and also by the nickname Manicongo, is a rapper, poet, and producer from São Paulo who became one of the pillars of contemporary Brazilian rap. His journey in music began in the year 2000, joining collectives such as Munições da 38 and the band Simples, the latter linked to the label Plano Áudio of the rapper Kamau. Rincon gained national prominence in 2009 with the single "Elegância", which combined a striking visual aesthetic with precise rhymes about daily life and Black self-esteem.\n\nDefinitive critical acclaim occurred with the release of his debut album, "Galanga Livre" (2017), awarded as the best Brazilian record of the year. The work is a deep dive into ancestry and the sounds of the African diaspora, establishing the concept of "Afrorep". Rincon is recognized for the literariness of his lyrics, often studied in academic circles for their connection with Afro-Brazilian literature. Throughout his career, he collaborated with great exponents of the genre, participating in the single "O céu é o limite" alongside Mano Brown, Emicida, and Djonga.\n\nIn addition to performing on stage, Rincon Sapiência plays an important role as an educator and social articulator, teaching poetry workshops and promoting hip hop culture as a tool for racial re-education. In 2019, he expanded his sonic palette with the album "Mundo Manicongo: Dramas, Danças e Afroreps", consolidating partnerships with artists from different branches of Brazilian music, such as the singer IZA and Alice Caymmi, and maintaining his position as one of the most innovative artists of the current scene.
