Biography

Rita de Cássia was an acclaimed Brazilian singer and songwriter, born in Alto Santo, Ceará, considered one of the greatest and most prolific authors in the history of electronic forró. Throughout her artistic career, which began in the 1990s, she accumulated more than 500 compositions recorded by various nationally prominent performers and bands, establishing herself as one of the main pillars of the genre.

Her national prominence began to take shape in 1992 with recordings by the singer Eliane, but it was in 1993 that she achieved definitive acclaim when the band Mastruz com Leite recorded the classic "Meu Vaqueiro, Meu Peão", considered one of the great anthems of modern forró. Over the years, her work continued to hit explosive successes, such as the song "Jeito de Amar", immortalized in the voices of Solange Almeida and Xandy Avião at the helm of the band Aviões do Forró, in addition to striking compositions like "Saga de um Vaqueiro".

In addition to her brilliant work as an author, Rita de Cássia also pursued a career as a performer, recording albums and a DVD alongside her brother Redondo and Banda Som do Norte, before embarking on a solo path. The artist left us in January 2023, in Fortaleza, a victim of pulmonary fibrosis, leaving an inestimable legacy for Northeastern and Brazilian culture.
