Biography
Maria Albuquerque Miranda, known professionally as Roberta Miranda, is a highly acclaimed Brazilian singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist, widely recognized as the "Rainha Sertaneja" (Queen of Sertanejo).
Born in João Pessoa, Paraíba, Miranda moved to São Paulo at a young age. She began her musical journey performing in bars and nightclubs for 14 years before her career took off. Her breakthrough came in 1985 when Jair Rodrigues recorded her composition "A Majestade O Sabiá," which became a massive hit. The following year, she released her debut album, achieving immediate success and becoming the first Brazilian female artist to sell over a million and a half records with her first album.
Merrita is celebrated for her significant contributions to sertanejo music, a genre that blends rural and urban influences. Her discography includes numerous successful albums and hit singles such as "Vá Com Deus," "Sol da Minha Vida," and "São Tantas Coisas." Beyond her musical achievements, Miranda is also known for her work as a painter and sculptor. She has collaborated with various artists, including Roberto Carlos and Chitãozinho & Xororó, further cementing her status in Brazilian popular music.
