Biography

Robertinho do Recife, stage name of Carlos Roberto Cavalcanti de Albuquerque, was born in Recife on November 5, 1953. Recognized as one of Brazil's greatest guitarists, he built a multifaceted career that ranged from northeastern music and rock to heavy metal and music production. Still in his childhood, he stood out as a guitar prodigy, joining local bands and accompanying Jovem Guarda stars in the late 1960s.

Throughout his career, he worked extensively as a studio musician and producer, collaborating with major icons of Brazilian music such as Fagner, Elba Ramalho, Zé Ramalho, Gal Costa, Hermeto Pascoal, and Lulu Santos. In addition, he founded the band Yahoo in the 1980s and led the heavy metal group Metal Mania, even sharing the stage and recording with several renowned international artists and bands.

In 2012, he was voted one of the thirty greatest Brazilian icons of the electric and acoustic guitar by Rolling Stone Brasil magazine. After periods away from the stage dedicated entirely to studio production, he resumed live performances and side projects, cementing his legacy in the history of the country's instrumental and popular music.
