Biography
Roberto Didio is a Brazilian composer, poet, and music producer born in São Paulo on June 15, 1975. His early musical exposure came from the percussion heard in football stadium stands and neighborhood fields during his adolescence in the late 1980s. This led to his initiation as a rhythm player in 1990, marching with the samba school Gaviões da Fiel. His songwriting endeavors began in the following years, reaching the semi-finals in his first and only samba-enredo competition.
Didio's career has seen collaborations with various artists. In 2007, singer Anabela recorded the CD "Cidade das Noites" with Edu de Maria, Renato Martins, and Roberto Didio, where Didio penned all the lyrics in partnership with Martins and de Maria. In 2010, Rio de Janeiro singer Gabriel Cavalcante released "O Que Vai Ficar Pelo Salão," featuring Didio's collaboration with Moacyr Luz, "Quando o samba veio me buscar." More recently, in 2024, singer Nani Medeiros released the single "Tantos Poetas," featuring two compositions by Didio in partnership with Cristovão Bastos: "Amores artistas" and "Tantos poetas."
In 2014, Didio partnered with Renato Martins to record "Gerais," an album inspired by the world of football, including the track "Samba pro Magro," dedicated to the player Sócrates. A significant recent release is "A Cabeça," a 2025 album by Fred Demarca and Roberto Didio, which celebrates their partnership and blends elements of Brazilian songbook with contemporary aesthetic combinations. The album features musical direction and arrangements by João Camarero, alongside Demarca and Didio, with percussion by Marcus Thadeu and cavaquinho by Ana Rabello.
