Biography

Born in Honduras in 1966, Roberto Taufic moved to Brazil with his family at the age of five. His musical journey began at age ten, and by fifteen, he was already participating in festivals with various Brazilian popular music and choro ensembles, playing classical guitar and cavaquinho. He started his professional career at seventeen as a session musician in Rio Grande do Norte, Brazil, contributing to numerous recording projects as a guitarist and arranger. His early career also included opening for renowned Brazilian artists such as Geraldo Azevedo, Joyce, and Luiz Melodia.

In 1990, Taufic moved to Rome, Italy, where he continued his musical studies and began collaborating with a diverse range of artists. He toured Brazil in 1994 with singer Elza Soares and later settled in Piedmont, Italy. There, he formed the band "Latin Touch" with singer Simon Papa and Brazilian percussionist Gilson Silveira, releasing the album "De cabo a rabo" in 1996, featuring Brazilian cellist Jaques Morelembaum. Throughout his career, Taufic has collaborated with a multitude of Brazilian and international musicians, including Ivan Lins, Guinga, Paula Santoro, Chico Buarque de Holanda, and Gabriele Mirabassi.

Taufic is also recognized for his work with his brother, pianist Eduardo Taufic, as the "Duo Taufic." Together, they have released several albums, including "Bate Rebate" and "Todas as Cores," and have performed extensively across Europe and South America. His discography as a leader includes albums like "Real Picture," "Eles & Eu," and "Agreste." Taufic has also dedicated himself to music education, conducting masterclasses in jazz and Brazilian guitar in Italy and Brazil since 1996.
