Biography

Rodrigo Luiz de Castro Santos, born in Rio de Janeiro in 1964, is a renowned Brazilian musician, singer, and songwriter, celebrated mainly for his remarkable career as the bassist of the band Barão Vermelho. Before solidifying his name in the national rock scene, he was a member of important groups and accompanied major music icons, such as Leo Jaime, Lobão, João Penca & Seus Miquinhos Amestrados, and Kid Abelha, accumulating thousands of live performances and appearances at historic festivals like Rock in Rio and Hollywood Rock.

In his solo career, which began in 2007 with the release of the album "Um Pouco Mais de Calma," Rodrigo explored sounds related to folk-rock and placed songs on soap opera soundtracks. In addition to his solo work and heavy-hitting partnerships with names like Frejat, Zélia Duncan, and Leoni, he also stood out in highly acclaimed side projects, such as Call The Police, formed alongside João Barone and British guitarist Andy Summers.

Recognized as one of the fundamental figures who shaped Brazilian rock starting in the 1980s, Rodrigo Santos remains active in the music scene, moving with versatility between rock, pop, and even bossa nova.
