Biography

Rodrigo Villa is a renowned Brazilian instrumentalist, born in Rio de Janeiro on April 7, 1978. From an early age, he showed an aptitude for music, beginning his studies on the double bass at nine years of age. His musical education is solid, with stints at the Musiarte school, where he deepened his knowledge in harmony, improvisation, and perception, in addition to studying for a degree in music at Unirio, taking classes with professor Antonio Arzolla. His pursuit of improvement led him to New York for private lessons with renowned bassists Ron Carter and John Patitucci.

Throughout his career, Rodrigo Villa has been a member of important musical ensembles, such as the Mauro Senise Quarteto, the Jobim Quarteto, and the Marcos Amorim Trio. His versatility has allowed him to accompany a wide range of renowned Brazilian artists, including Paulo Moura, Elza Soares, Mart'nália, Joyce, Milton Nascimento, and many others. This collaboration with diverse names in Brazilian music highlights his importance and recognition in the musical scene.

Villa has also participated in group projects such as Garrafieira, Sincronia Carioca, and Copa 5, recording CDs that have enriched the Brazilian discography. His work spans various musical genres, covering jazz, pop, samba, bossa nova, baião, and samba jazz, demonstrating his ability to move masterfully through different sounds.
