Biography

Rogério Castro is a well-known Brazilian music producer, multi-instrumentalist, composer, and arranger, widely recognized as one of the most respected bassists in the Christian music scene. Born in June 1968, he began his musical journey playing acoustic guitar and mandolin during childhood before adopting the electric bass at the age of fourteen. Over a prolific career spanning thousands of recording projects, he has established himself as a versatile sideman and producer across both Christian and secular popular music genres in Brazil.

In 1993, Rogério joined the influential rock band Rebanhão, replacing Murilo Kardia during a major restructuring period led by Pedro Braconnot. Alongside members like Wagner Carvalho, he contributed as bassist on the albums Enquanto É Dia and Por Cima dos Montes until 1997. Following his departure from Rebanhão, he co-founded the pop rock group Primeira Essência alongside Wagner Derek, Marcelo Magrão, and Davi Fernandes, recording two albums over a three-year span.

Beyond his band work, Rogério became a core member of singer Kleber Lucas's backing band and contributed to an extensive discography exceeding two thousand projects. Throughout his career, he has collaborated and recorded with prominent Brazilian artists such as Tim Maia, Marisa Monte, Banda Black Rio, Angela Ro Ro, Daniela Mercury, Aline Barros, Fernanda Brum, and Carlinhos Felix.
