Biography

Alan Ferreira Cardoso, known as Roxinho, is a Brazilian samba composer and singer who has made significant contributions to the genre. Born in Mesquita, Rio de Janeiro, Roxinho comes from a family with a strong connection to samba, and his musical journey began at a young age. He composed his first song at 12 and by 18, had his compositions recorded by established artists.

Roxinho is particularly recognized for his collaborations with the legendary samba artist Bezerra da Silva, for whom he penned several notable songs. His work has also been featured on recordings by the acclaimed samba school GRES Beija-Flor de Nilópolis, showcasing his versatility and talent within the samba community. Beyond his individual work, Roxinho is a founding member of the GRBC Dexa Keto, a samba group based in his hometown.

His career highlights include winning the samba-enredo competition for GRES Leão de Nova Iguaçu for the 2011 carnival. Roxinho's passion for samba extends to his involvement in projects that document and celebrate the genre, including a documentary and DVD recording titled "Onde A Coruja Dorme." He continues to be an active figure in the samba scene, composing and performing, and is a respected voice among his peers.
