Biography

Rubens Campos was a Brazilian rhythmist, singer, and composer, also known by the pseudonym Carrol Blanchez. Born in Rio de Janeiro on August 16, 1912, he became a notable figure in Brazilian popular music.

Campos is best known for his collaboration with Henricão, with whom he co-wrote "Está Chegando a Hora" in 1941. This song, an adaptation of the Mexican "Cielito Lindo," became a massive success during the 1942 Carnival when performed by Cármen Costa, solidifying Campos's place in Brazilian music history.

Throughout his career, Campos contributed to the rich tapestry of Brazilian music with his compositions and performances. He passed away in Rio de Janeiro on November 3, 1985, leaving behind a legacy of memorable songs.
