Biography

Rubens Ohana, whose full name is Rubem Ohana de Miranda, is a highly relevant Brazilian drummer in Brazilian instrumental music, especially in the Bossa Nova and Jazz scenes.

His career gained prominence when he joined Tamba Trio in 1964, replacing Hélcio Milito. With this lineup, he recorded important albums such as "Tamba Trio" (1965), "5 na bossa: Tamba Trio, Edu Lobo e Nara Leão" (1965), and "Tamba Trio saluda Mexico" (1966). Later, Tamba Trio evolved into the quartet Tamba 4, with the addition of Dório Ferreira, and recorded albums such as "We and the Sea" (1967) and "Samba Blim" (1968), which were released in the United States.

Ohana also participated in other lineups and recordings, including works with Edu Lobo and Milton Nascimento. His technique and style on the drums contributed significantly to the sophisticated and innovative sound of Tamba Trio and Tamba 4, leaving an important legacy in Brazilian music.
