Biography

Rubi, artistic name of Wilton Alves de França, is a Brazilian singer and actor born in Goiânia, Goiás, in 1962. His artistic career began in Brasília in the 1980s, after graduating in performing arts. The name "Rubi" was inspired by a cousin of the poet Mário Ribeiro, who was also inspired by the singer's gaze. In 1992, he moved to São Paulo, where he consolidated his musical career, performing in various musicals and sharing the stage with great names of Brazilian music such as Elza Soares, Vânia Bastos, and Zélia Duncan.

His discography includes albums such as "Rubi" (1998), with compositions by artists like Chico César and Zeca Baleiro, and "Infinito Portátil" (2005), a conceptual record. In 2007, he released "Paisagem Humana", which received sponsorship from Petrobras. Rubi has also undertaken international tours, such as in China in 2000 and in Europe in 2006. His career led him to be nominated for the Brazilian Music Award.

With a peculiar voice and striking stage presence, Rubi moves between MPB and Brazilian popular music, also exploring theatrical influences in his performances. In 2012, he celebrated 25 years of career, performing in an intimate voice and acoustic guitar format. In 2022, he released the self-authored album "Nem Toda Pausa é Espera", which also gave its name to his show, exploring dramaturgy in his songs.
