Biography

Rubinho Jacobina, born Ruben Jacobina Campos in Rio de Janeiro on March 5, 1974, is a singer, songwriter, poet, and instrumentalist known for his eclectic musical style.

He grew up immersed in an artistic environment, being the son of filmmaker Fernando Coni Campos and screenwriter Eloá Jacobina, and brother to composer Nelson Jacobina. His musical journey began in the early 1990s when he started performing at the Cep 20 Mil event in Rio de Janeiro. Jacobina's music is a distinctive blend of samba, rock, Jovem Guarda, and Tropicalismo, reflecting his diverse influences and creative approach.

Jacobina was a founding member of the band Anjos da Lua in 1998 and later joined the Orquestra Imperial in 2002. His solo career gained significant recognition with the release of his album "Rubinho e a Força Bruta" in 2004, which earned him the Revelation Award from the São Paulo Association of Art Critics. The album featured the hit song "Artista é o caralho," which also became part of the Orquestra Imperial's repertoire. He has continued to release music, including albums like "Andando no Ar" (2014) and "Amor Universal," showcasing his evolving artistry and consistent contribution to Brazilian music.
