Biography
Roosevelt Ribeiro de Carvalho, widely known as Russo Passapusso, was born in Feira de Santana, on September 18, 1983. The son of workers who moved to Salvador, he worked in telemarketing and at a vinyl record store before consolidating his artistic career in the Bahian capital.
His musical career began to take shape in projects focused on soundsystem culture and rhythmic experimentation, integrating initiatives such as Ministereo Público, in addition to the groups Dubstereo and Bembatrio. In these collectives, he collaborated with names like Fael 1º and DJ Raiz, helping to explore fusions between global and traditional sounds such as samba-reggae, ragga and repente. In 2009, he joined the band BaianaSystem as lead vocalist and conceptual creator, alongside Roberto Barreto, a project with which he achieved national projection.
In his solo career initiated in 2014 with the album Paraíso da Miragem, and in the collaborative work Alto da Maravilha released in 2022 alongside the duo Antonio Carlos & Jocafi, Russo demonstrated his versatility by moving through soul, samba and rhythms of the Recôncavo baiano. Throughout his career, he has also shared stages and projects with prominent artists from the Brazilian scene, such as Curumin, Zé Nigro, Lucas Martins, Linn da Quebrada and Liniker.
