Biography

Sá, Rodrix & Guarabyra was a renowned Brazilian musical trio formed in 1971 by Luiz Carlos Sá, Zé Rodrix, and Guttemberg Guarabyra. The group became notable for being one of the pioneers and main exponents of so-called rural rock, a musical genre that blended North American rock and folk with influences from Brazilian country and regional music. The style's identity was inspired by the hit "Casa no Campo", composed by Zé Rodrix and Tavito, and immortalized in the voice of Elis Regina.

The trio's trajectory went through several phases over the decades. In 1973, Zé Rodrix left the group, causing Luiz Carlos Sá and Guarabyra to continue their career as a highly successful duo, releasing several remarkable albums such as "Nunca" and "Pirão de Peixe Com Pimenta". Years later, in 1999, the original lineup was reunited with the return of Zé Rodrix, a partnership that remained active until the multi-instrumentalist's passing in 2009.

Throughout their combined careers, the group accumulated unforgettable hits like "Mestre Jonas" and consolidated their space in MPB and national folk music. Before their definitive union, the members already collected individual successes, such as Guarabyra with the song "Margarida" at the 1967 International Song Festival. The trio's legacy remains as one of the most original marks of the fusion between urban music and the countryside atmosphere in Brazil.
