Biography

Sá, Rodrix & Guarabyra was an influential Brazilian musical trio formed in 1971 by Luiz Carlos Sá, Zé Rodrix, and Guttemberg Guarabyra. The group became notable as a pioneer in the creation of so-called "rural rock", a genre that combined elements of rock, folk, and traditional sertanejo music. Before uniting as a trio, the musicians already had prominent experience in the national scene, with compositions recorded by established artists such as Peri Ribeiro.

In 1973, Zé Rodrix left the project, causing Sá and Guarabyra to continue their activities as a successful duo for over two decades. During this period, they released several notable albums that solidified their relevance in the MPB and Brazilian folk music scene. The original lineup of the trio returned to the stage in 1999, remaining active until Zé Rodrix's passing in 2009.

The group's discography includes fundamental works of Brazilian music, such as the album Passado, Presente & Futuro, released in 1972, as well as anthological songs that dialogue with the work of major names of the era, such as Elis Regina and Tavito. The artistic contribution of Sá, Rodrix & Guarabyra remains a milestone in the fusion of urban and country sounds in Brazil.
