Biography

Formed in Curitiba, Paraná, in 2004, Sabonetes emerged as a Brazilian rock band with a distinct indie-pop sensibility. The original lineup consisted of Artur Roman on vocals and guitar, João Davi on bass, Alexandre Caja Guedes on drums, and Wonder Bettin on guitar. Their early sound was characterized by catchy melodies, well-crafted pop structures, and indie arrangements, drawing influences from bands like The Killers, Franz Ferdinand, and Los Hermanos.

In 2010, Sabonetes independently released their self-titled debut album, which garnered attention for its polished production and strong songwriting. The album showcased their ability to blend accessible pop hooks with a more alternative rock edge. Following the success of their debut, the band relocated to São Paulo to further promote their music and expand their reach within the Brazilian music scene.

In 2013, the band underwent a significant transformation, rebranding themselves as Esperanza. This name change coincided with the release of their second album, also titled "Esperanza." The shift marked a new chapter for the group, reflecting a maturation in their sound and artistic direction. Despite the name change, the core members remained the same, continuing to explore their musical identity within the Brazilian rock landscape.
